JNN 28 Feb , 2013 Karachi : Thousands of Protesters around the world have arranged and Protested against the Shia Genocide being carried out in Pakistan , as the Pakistani Government has been unable to apprehend the terrorist and to Provide Security to its Citizens , and to curb the Menace of Sectarianism in Particular and Terrorism in General.

Hundreds of protesters in the Australian city of Sydney, gathered in the busy business district and in front of the United States consulate , to voice their anger at targeted killing of Hazara people in Pakistan Done in the Month of Feb 2013.
“We want the government of Pakistan to take action against those responsible and definitely we also request to bring them to justice and to do something to stop the killing of those Hazara people,” Shams Ali with Panjtan Society said.
More than 350 demonstrators along with their delegates and supporters made their way to the central part of Sydney and presented a resolution to the Pakistani Consulate General.
“It makes me ashamed that within the span of seven weeks, an event of such a magnitude was repeated in Quetta,” Azam Mohammed with Pakistani Consulate General said.
The protests have also spread throughout other states. Many protesters are willing to go on hunger strike until the attacks against Shia Muslims are officially considered as genocide by the United Nations and the perpetrators are registered on the United Nations’ black list.
This is the first of many protests to come, as demonstrators have promised to continue their demonstrations in several states until the bloodshed ends and peace begins for Hazaras in Pakistan.
On February 16, a bomb tore through the crowded vegetable market in the town of Hazara, on the outskirts of Quetta in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan Province and killed nearly 90 Shia Muslims.
Following the massacre, protesters took to the streets across Pakistan and other countries including the neighboring Afghanistan to denounce the violence against Shia Muslims.
Violence has escalated against Shia Muslims in different parts of Pakistan in recent months. Since the beginning of 2012, hundreds of Shias have been killed in the country.
On February 1, 2013 some 19 people were killed and dozens wounded when a motorcycle packed with explosives exploded near a mosque in the town of Hangu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
On January 10, 2013 nearly 130 people were killed and many others injured in a wave of deadly attacks targeting both Pakistani security guards and civilians, including Shia Muslims, in the country.
Shias make up about a 30% of Pakistan’s population of over 180 million.

The Manchester (UK) Shia Community alongside Sunni brethren gathered on (Wednesday 20th February 2013) outside the Consulate General of Pakistan to voice deepest concerns over the Genocide that has been taking place in Pakistan. A petition alongside a statement composed by ‘Shia Council of Manchester’ which consists of All Shia organisations in and around Manchester, was presented to the Consular General Mr Ehsan-Ullah Batth during a meeting held with him. He has promised to take notice of concerns and has also re-assured that the message will be sent with priority to the Pakistani Government and relevant agencies.

Dear Mr Batth
With this letter, we would like to bring to your attention, a great atrocity that is being committed against the Shia minority in Pakistan. Though there are many injustices being committed in Pakistan and we believe that this particular event needs your foremost attention. This persecution has recently increased in magnitude to a level that reminds us of the unfortunate events that had occurred in Germany during the Second World War against the Jews, so much so that we are witness to a potential “Shia genocide” in Pakistan.
At a human level we find this persecution of the Shia minority highly offensive and disconcerting. It is our duty to try to prevent this massacre and stop this from escalating any further. We urge Pakistan’s democratically elected government to take concrete steps in resolving this issue promptly. We stand in solidarity with the Shia of Quetta and repeat their demands to the local and central government of Pakistan for an immediate and swift response to fulfill their rightful demands:
1. The army should be deployed to protect the people of Quetta.
2. The government must commence a targeted operation against the terrorist perpetrators and bring them to justice.
3. The government must make it illegal to discriminate on religious grounds with real and enforceable consequences.
4. The government must provide substantial and swift compensation to the victims’ families.
We count on your interest and support in this matter of great human value. While, the absolutely one-way sectarian-cleansing of Shias in Pakistan by the extremist militants has gone on for almost two decades, it has now reached alarming proportions. To put it very succinctly:
• People are being taken off the buses and killed for being Shias after proper identification.
• Shias are being identified and then killed in the major urban centers.
• Hazaras in Quetta are being isolated and being killed merely for being Shias.
• Parachinar, Tirah, Gilgit, Baltistan, Nagar etc. are being sequestered and brutally attacked just because Shias live there.
• During 2012, 630 people were identified and killed merely for being Shias. More than 270 Shias have already been killed in one and a half month this year.
This amounts to a modern systematic cleansing of a group in Pakistan with a death toll that now surpasses that of Srebrenica Massacre recognized as genocide. The annihilation of Shias in Pakistan epitomizes the essence of genocidal practices in partial (or complete) destruction of a national group and meets with genocide’s essential notion of complete ostruction of a national group as per 1948 Genocide Convention and all subsequent legal definitions of genocide. It bears resemblance with the killings of Jews in the Germany of early and mid-1930s. It aims to destroy a group and not just the individuals making up the group with the ultimate purpose of destroying the group’s identity to impose identity of the perpetrator. A complete inability to identify, apprehend and bring the perpetrators to justice widens the sphere in government’s and media’s complicity in this genocide.
We count on your capacity to push the Pakistani parliament and the government for substantive action on this important humanitarian issue.

Hundreds of people joined this demonstration on 22nd of February in Zeynebiye Mosque which was organized after the Friday prayer by Sheikh Hamid Turan.
This protest which started after the recitation of Quran by one of the scholars, Sheikh Ehed Talan, continued by these slogans: Hazara Turks are not alone, Shia and Sunni are brothers, Wahhabis are treacherous, and King Abdullah is the puppet of America, Death to America and Death to Israel.
After shouting these slogans in the sake of unity, the Imam of Zeynebiye Mosque said these words:
“The attacks which were done to the Hazara Turks were a real genocide. We expect all the Muslims to have a clear reaction towards this. We, as the unity of Shia Scholars of the world, condemn those who do this catastrophic action and the Imperialist USA and its ally, Israel that support their action and try to ruin the Islamic values.
By inviting all the Muslims to be united in the world of Islam, Turan continued his words by saying that:
“Although this terrorist attack was done over the Shias but the result was the death of innocent people.
Our Sunni brothers have a great responsibility in confronting this genocide, because those terrorist groups claim to do these attacks in the name of Sunnis. We expect the head of Religious Affairs of Turkey to take a serious step and the United Nations not to be indifferent against these terrorist attacks.”
Sheikh Hamid Turan finally ended his speech by mentioning the explosion that occurred in Turkey Border, Cilvegozu:
“As the citizens of this country, this explosion had made us worried and anxious. We shouldn’t let the terrorism to be able to approach us.”
Supported by the Saudi regime, the Taliban, Lashkare Jangavi and nationalist Baluch militants are committing wild crimes almost every day.
Turkey, the Islamic countries and the international communities are just watching the massacre of innocent Pakistani Shias.
Every year, hundreds Hazara Shias are killed by terrorists in Pakistan.
Last month, 125 Shia were killed by a target bombing in Quetta and the number of killed people in the last week’s attack was 84.

Prominent Islamic scholars and intellectuals here Tuesday called upon the international community to help put an end to ‘massacre’ of the Shia Muslim community in Pakistan.
“This is extremely shameful and a matter of concern to the whole world. The United Nations, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and other global bodies must step in to end this senseless killings of Shias in Pakistan,” renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Sayed Ahmedalo Abidi, the Imam of Jama Masjid in Mumbai, told media-persons.
He claimed that Shia Muslims in Pakistan are being physically attacked, shot or bombed at random and called upon the Pakistani government to protect from from the militant violence.
“Stop this Shia Muslim genocide in Pakistan … The Pakistan government must acknowledge that the atrocities unleashed against the helpless community tantamount to a systemic genocide,” Abidi said.
Alleging that the Takfiri Deobandi militants of ASWJ-LeJ and Sipah-E-Sahaba were responsible for the violence against Shia Muslims, Abidi said the Pakistan Army must be directly held accountable for the safety and well-being of the Shias in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan where they are in majority and are being targeted.
Maulana Zaheer Abbas Rizvi, general secretary of the All India Shia Muslim Personal Law Board, said the Pakistan Human Rights Commission must now intervene to put an end to the violence against Shias.
“The legal ban on Sipah-e-Sahaba, which currently is allowed to operate freely under a new name ASWJ, must be fully implemented. Their leaders, Ahmed Ludhianvi, Malik Ishaq, Aurangzeb Farooqi and Qazi Nisar, must be arrested immediately,” Rizvi demanded.
The duo pointed out that in recent years, Pakistan has been besieged by militant activities of the Pakistani Taliban and now radical Sunni Muslim militant groups have started targeting the Shias whom they do not regard as Muslims.
“Many of these sectarian attacks have taken place in southwest Balochistan province, which has a huge concentration of Shias in Pakistan. Many are Hazaras, an ethnic group which migrated from Afghanistan over a century ago,” said Maulana Mahmood Daryabadi, general secretary of the All India Ulama Council.
The Islamic scholars also condemned last week’s twin blasts in Hyderabad.

Hundreds of women have held a demonstration in the southern Indian city of Bangalore to protest against the recent killing of Shia Muslims in Pakistan.

More than 90 of the victims lost their lives in twin bomb attacks that targeted Shia Muslims in a crowded billiard hall in Quetta. The outlawed terrorist group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi claimed responsibility for the billiard hall attack.
On Friday, the protesters gathered in the Indian city and shouted slogans condemning the Shia killings in the neighboring South Asian country and criticized Pakistan’s security forces for failing to provide security to the country’s Shia Muslims.
The demonstrators were carrying placards reading “Indian Muslims stand united against Taliban terrorists”, “Stop Shia killing in Pakistan” and “I protest the killing of innocent Shias in Pakistan.”
Most of the protesters held up signs reading “My brother has been martyred — My son has been martyred.”
The demonstrators also denounced the Saudi Arabian policy of funding extremist groups that commit acts of violence against other Muslims in Pakistan.
Human rights groups have vehemently criticized the Pakistani government for its failure to stem the rising tide of violence against the country’s Shia Muslims.
On January 11, the Pakistan director of Human Rights Watch also commented on the issue.
“2012 was the bloodiest year for Pakistan’s Shia community in living memory and if this latest attack is any indication, 2013 has started on an even more dismal note,” Ali Dayan Hasan said.
“As Shia community members continue to be slaughtered in cold blood, the callousness and indifference of authorities offers a damning indictment of the state, its military, and security agencies,” Hasan said.
“Pakistan’s tolerance for religious extremists is not just destroying lives and alienating entire communities, it is destroying Pakistani society across the board,” he added.
